It's been a while between posts, especially between brewing posts!
The Queensland Amateur Brewing Championships have come and gone, I entered a lot of beers this year and managed to grab a 1st in the Wheat and Rye category, a 3rd in Pilsener and 6 other highly commended entries.
Not a bad effort, though I did feel that I rushed it towards the end and my IPA and IIPA were definitely not as good as last year.
The stand out was my American Rye Ale, this managed a 1st in a category dominated by Weizens, Weizenbocks and American Wheats.
My little session American Rye ale stood out and triumphed, I knew this was a great beer when i brewed it, it tastes and looks great, I was just worried (unjustly) about the amount of rye spiciness that was showing in the finished beer.
Anyway onto the recipe and the Nationals which are held in a few days, fingers crossed my Rye and pilsner do well!
